Skin pass line equipped by one stand 4Hi mill (Wet type). Skin pass (Tempering) is defined as the process which removes the deformations caused by annealing, improves the strip surface quality and makes the product ready for painting, Tin plate and so on.
Skin pass line can be divided in to three main sections
- Entry Section
- Rolling Section
- Exit section
Entry section includes Saddles, Pay off reel, Width and Coil diameter measurement unit which prepares Coils for Rolling.
Rolling section include 4Hi Stand, Roll changing system, Elongation measurement Unit, Length measurement Unit and Edge position Control.
Exit section includes Air knife, Thickness gauge, Oiler, Belt Wrapper, Re-coiler, saddles.
The strip is thus brought through entry side guide up to the mill roll bite. Then the strip is fed through the exit side equipment up to the Re-coiler by mill jogging. There is a washing system to clean the surface of roll (impurity come from the annealed strip surface) within rolling process. This system has nozzles that spray detergent on rolls. Remain of detergent removed with air knife and strip dried. Re-coiler equipped with Belt Wrapper that help to coil the strip.
Skin passed coils produced for sale may be oiled, recoiled or cut by size depending on the customer’s requirement or send to Corrective and Inspection line.
