Electrolytic Cleaning Line is responsible for the electrolyte cleaning of the rolled sheet surface in order to have its surface contaminations and greases removed in two dipping tanks containing alkaline solution and electrolyte cleaning.
ECL can be divided in to three main sections:
- Entry Section
- Process Section
- Exit section
The entry section equipments consists of Pay-off reel, Width and Coil diameter measurement unit, CPC unit, Entry Shear Crop and Welding Machine that prepares Coils for process section.
The Process Section consist of Hot Alkali Spray cleaning tank (To looses the oil & soil from the strip surface), Brushing Tank (to remove Iron fines), Electrolytic Cleaning Tank(that removes floating oil and magnetic separator to separate the iron fines from the surface of the coil and solution), Hot Water Rinse Tank, Air Wiper(supply which wipes the remaining solution on the strip back to the tank), Mixing Tank (The fresh alkali is prepared by adding powder alkali), Condensate Tank (Condensate of steam from various tanks is collected in a condensate tank), Hot Air Dryer and two steering unit in front and end of Process Section.
Automation equipment in process section are flow meter Coil O.D and Width Measuring device ,Level meter, Current Control System, Thermometer, Control valves, PH meter, conduct meter,
After process section Strip comes to exit section.
Some of major equipments in exit section are Tensiometer, Exit Shear, Edge guide system and Re-coiler. Also There are two separate centrifuge units; one to separate oil from the alkali solution and other to separate the solids (like dirt / iron fines) from the solution.
The product goes to the hydrogen Annealing Batch Furnaces unit after it has been given a final wash and dried forcuring.
In fact, the electrolyte cleaning unit is responsible for the cleaning of the sheet and removing all remaining emulsions, iron powder and non-ferric solid impurities created by the cold-rolling operations.
